Nice to meet you
Becky Portman (she/her) is an enthusiastic filmmaker and creative director with a passion for storytelling and visual design. With a background in TV production and a degree in Film and Art and Design from the University of Michigan, she is eager to bring fresh ideas and a unique perspective to the creative industry.
Having gained experience through the making of her short film and as a showrunner’s assistant, Becky has developed skills in creative problem solving, collaboration, and visual communication. She is particularly interested in using her experience in the film world to tell compelling stories for brands and products, and is dedicated to honing her craft and growing her skills.
Becky thrives on collaboration and is excited about the opportunity to work alongside seasoned professionals, learning from their expertise while contributing creative concepts and solutions. Known for her positive attitude and exceptional communication, she is committed to making a meaningful impact in every project she undertakes.
She is currently a Dorot Fellow on the Dorot Fellowship in Israel where she has been living in Tel Aviv exploring the art world in the context of the war and the region, teaching English and film to Israeli and Palestinian children in the mixed city of Jaffa, and creating comics and illustrations.
When not immersed in creative projects, she enjoys doodling at coffee shops, finding treasures at Goodwill, and doing jigsaw puzzles. She loves coming of age movies, queer period pieces and horror comedy. As a director, she looks up to Nora Ephron, Edgar Wright, and Mike Mills. She wants to elevate Jewish and queer stories through her work.
